Make Your Own Gingerbread House this Christmas

Ingredients

240g flour

80g Butter

50g Honey

3/4 tsp baking soda

1.5 tbsp cocoa powder

3 tsp cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg

Directions

Mix flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg and baking powder in a large bowl. Melt the butter and add honey to it. Mix the melted butter with honey into the dry mixture. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

 

Cutting the Gingerbread House partsRoll the dough on a parchment paper. When you are done cutting the house parts, separate them from each other and spread them on the parchment paper leaving space between each part.

 

 

Baking the Gingerbread House – Once you are done cutting the perfect Christmas Gingerbread house parts, bake at 170C for 6-8 minutes.

 

 

When all the house part cookies are baked and perfect. Let them rest for 15-20 minutes before you start decorating or you can also store them in your freezer for upcoming Christmas gatherings.

 

 

Decorating your Gingerbread House – Here is where you can get super creative.  First with the icing flavour, cream cheese is a healthy and yummy option for a larger house, but there are plenty of pre-made icing options for novice bakers that would work well too. 

 

 

Also think about the colour of the icing – white is very traditional against the gingerbread hue, but you can also use food colouring to make a mix of bright and Christmassy colours that the kids will love.
